SERMON SEEDS N1

SERMON SEEDS

N1 – THE WEEK OF AUGUST 29, 2016

Sermon Seeds is a weekly mailing of brief sermon outlines from Pastor Jack Peters.  These outlines are meant to help other pastors and Bible

Teachers in their own preparations, as well as students of the Word in their studies.

These outlines are only "seeds".  They are not sermons usually ready for you to preach.  Feel free to improve on these outlines anyway the Lord leads you.

As seeds these outlines need to be:

WRAPPED (planted)  in the soil of  SUPPLICATION   (prayer).

WATERED with the rain of EDUCATION (doctrine).

WARMED by the sun of  APPLICATION AND ILLUSTRATION.

These outlines are based on the King James Version of the Bible, but are usually a “fit” with other translations.

FACTS ABOUT LABOR – Labor Day!

LABOR IS FROM GOD

Psalms 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Exodus 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

GOD KNOWS OUR LABORS

Revelation 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

GRACE COMES WITHOUT LABOR

Joshua 24:13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

TRUE LABOR IS A RESULT OF GRACE

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

LABORERS NEED GOD’S HELP

Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

John 15:4-5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

LABOR IS REWARDED

2 Chronicles 15:7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

SOLDIER TALK - 2 CORINTHIANS 10:3-6

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 - For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: [4] (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; [6] And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

2 Timothy 2:3-4 (KJV) - Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

PHILLIPIANS 4:14-19 - MISSIONS GIVING

PAYMENTS OF SUPPORT

Philippians 4:14-16 - Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. [15] Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. [16] For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

PURPOSE FOR CONCERN

Philippians 4:17 - Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

PATTERN OF GIVING

Philippians 4:18 - But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

PROVISION FROM GOD

Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
