Sermon Seeds is a mailing of brief sermon outlines from Pastor

Jack Peters.  These outlines are meant to help other pastors and Bible

Teachers in their own preparations, as well as students of the Word in their studies.

These outlines are only "seeds".  They are not sermons ready for you to

preach. Some of these outlines are new. Some have been shared in the past.          Feel free to improve on these outlines any way the Lord leads you.

These outlines are based on the King James Version of the Bible, but are usually a “fit” with other translations.

 WALLET WORSHIP

Worship as a Way of Life #6

Each Sunday morning we have a worship service.  One of the acts of worship that we practice is giving.  When we speak of “wallet worship”, we are talking about worshipping with our wallets, not worshipping our wallets.

THE REASONS FOR WALLET WORSHIP

1.    GRATITUDE - Ephesians 2:1-7

WHAT WE WERE - Vss. 1-3 - Dead in trespasses and sins

WHAT WE ARE - Vss. 4-6 - Loved

WHAT WE WILL BE - Vs. 7 - Receiving the riches of His grace for all eternity

2.    OWNERSHIP – Psalm 24:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

3.    DEDICATION – Romans 12:1-2

THE WRONG KINDS OF WALLET WORSHIP

1 Timothy 6:10

1.    BEING SELFISH - Luke 12:16-21, Matthew 6:19-21

2.    BEING SCARED - Matthew 6:26, 28-30, 33

3.    BEING SNEAKY – Acts 5:1-11

THE RIGHT KINDS OF WALLET WORSHIP

1.    THE ABRAHAM PRINCIPLE - Genesis 14:18-20

2.    THE MALACHI PRINCIPLE - Malachi 3:8

3.    THE WIDOW PRINCIPLE - Mark 12:41-44

4.    THE PAUL PRINCIPLE - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

EZRA 3 – REVIAL

For about seventy years the temple in Jerusalem laid in ruins.

A group of people came out of exile back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple (Ezra 1-2).

In Chapter 3, the rebuilding of the temple is started.

I believe that this chapter shows us a procedure for revival.

REESTABLISH WORSHIP - Vss. 1-6

Before an effort was made to rebuild the temple, worship was reestablished.

A good way to start revival is through sincere worship of God. Psalm 89:7

Sincere worship will lead to true repentance.

REBUILD THE FOUNDATION - Vss. 7-10a

The foundation needed to be rebuilt.

When we are revived we reaffirm that our life is built on Christ alone.  1 Corinthians 3:11

We repent and return to our "first love". Revelation 2:4-5

RESPOND APPROPRIATELY - Vss. 10b-13

1.    The Response of Sorrow - Vss. 12-13

Some people were sorrowful because of the smaller size of the rebuilt temple.

We should sorrow over sin when God is reviving us. 2 Corinthians 7:10

2.    The Response of Joy - Vss. 10b-11

There was joy when the foundation for the temple was relayed.

God was in the center of the praise and joy.

When we experience revival in our lives, we too will praise God and experience His joy. Psalm 85:6

EPHESIANS 1:7-12 – RICHES IN THE SON

 KNOWING AND GROWING #4

When we place our faith in Christ, God gives us several “riches” or benefits. These verses share some of them.

WE ARE SAVED Vs. 7

·      If you know Christ as Savior, you are one of the "saved." Those who are saved have redemption!

·      According to scholars, there are 3 Greek words used in the Scriptures which are translated as our English word, "Redemption."

·      We are redeemed by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ! Hebrews 9:22, 1 Peter 1:18-19

·      Our sins are forgiven through the riches of His grace. Hebrews 9:28

·      According to H.A. Ironside, there are two types of forgiveness.

1.    There is eternal forgiveness as described here. Psalm 103:3

2.    There is restorative forgiveness. When Christians sin, they are not kicked out of God’s family, but their fellowship with God is hindered. Confession of sin restores fellowship! Psalm 66:18, 1 John 1:8-10

·      We are the recipients of the riches of His grace. God’s grace is poured out to those who believe. God is no piker!

WE ARE SUPPLIED Vs. 8

·      One of the great gifts which we are given as Christians is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He comes to live inside us the moment we trust Christ as Savior. John 16:13-14

·      The Holy Spirit is present to give illumination to those of us who know Christ as Savior.

·      In Vs. 8 we are told that we have been given wisdom and prudence.

·      The word wisdom would mean that we can grasp the things of God as laid out for us in the Word of God.

1.    We can grasp the identity and work of Christ.

2.    We can grasp the nature and power of God.

3.    We can grasp the identity and ministry of the Holy Spirit.

4.    We can grasp what God is going to do in the future.

·      Not only do we have wisdom but we have "prudence". The word prudence has also been translated "insight".

·      When we have insight, or understanding, we take the wisdom we have and apply it to our everyday experiences!

WE ARE SETTLED Vss. 9-10

·      Vs. 9 - We see specifically in these verses some of the things about which we will have wisdom and understanding.

·      A mystery is a "sacred secret", hidden in the Old Testament, and revealed in the New Testament.

·      Vs. 10 - There is a dispensation coming. That is an administration, a way in which God will work. It is called "the fullness of times". It is a time when every issue that needs to be settled will be settled.

·      Everything will be gathered together and resolved in Christ. This settling will begin with the establishment of Christ’s Kingdom on earth for a thousand years. Isaiah 11

·      This time will be followed by a brief rebellion of Satan and the final judgment known as the Great White Throne. Revelation 20

WE ARE SATISFIED Vss. 11-12

·      Vs. 11 – God planned ahead that each of us who know Christ have an inheritance in Christ.

·      We are His inheritance. He gets us. Ephesians 1:19

·      And He is our inheritance. We get Him!

·      We will be satisfied with our inheritance 1 John 3:2, Revelation 21:1-7

·      Vs. 12 – When we get our inheritance, we will be the “praise of His glory”!
