Sermon Seeds is a mailing of brief sermon outlines from Pastor

Jack Peters.  These outlines are meant to help other pastors and Bible

Teachers in their own preparations, as well as students of the Word in their studies.

These outlines are only "seeds".  They are not sermons ready for you to

preach. Some of these outlines are new. Some have been shared in the past.          Feel free to improve on these outlines any way the Lord leads you.

These outlines are based on the King James Version of the Bible, but are usually a “fit” with other translations.

JEREMIAH 15:16 - WORSHIP AND THE WORD

Worship as a Way of Life #7

Jeremiah 15:16                                                                                                         Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

Every part of our service should be an act of worship, including when the Word of God is read, preached and listened to. Jeremiah 15:16 helps us to Worship in the Word, both when it is read, taught, or preached in church or other venues, and when I am reading it on my own.

JOB 19:25-27 – LIFE!

This outline could be used towards writing a funeral sermon.

Those of us who know Christ as Savior realize that we have life beyond the grave.

That's because we have:

A LIVING REDEEMER - Job 19:25a - "For I know that my redeemer liveth..." Isaiah 53, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

A LIVING REIGN - Job 19:25b - "...and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:" Psalm 2, Isaiah 11

A LIVING REALITY - Job 19:26-27 - "And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me."  1 John 3:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18

MATTHEW 13:24-30, 37-43 – DOWN ON THE FARM

This parable by Jesus tells us why things are so bad in the world today, and why we shouldn't worry about the future.

GOOD SEED - Vss. 24, 37-38

Jesus is the sower of the good seed in the world.

GREAT EVIL - Vss. 25-26, 38-39

Satan is responsible for planting the weeds.

The good seed are born again Christians.

The evil seed are those without Christ. They are children of the Devil.

The weeds are springing up with the good seed.

 GENEROUS HARVEST - Vss. 29-30, 40-43

        For the Fire (Hell) - Vss. 40-42

MARK 11:1-10 – LIKE THE COLT

YOU ARE NEEDED - Vss. 1-6

Of course, because God is God, He technically needs nothing.  However, He has chosen to use each of us in ministry. Ephesians 2:10, 1 Peter 4:10-11

He has also chosen us to worship Him. Hebrews 13:15

YOU ARE TO CARRY JESUS - Vs. 7

The colt carried Jesus to Jerusalem and to a multitude of people.

We are to carry Jesus to the multitudes. Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15

YOU ARE TO BE UNDER HIS CONTROL - Vs. 7

The colt was unbroken, but he was "broken" by Jesus.

Jesus wants to break us and have full control of our lives. Romans 12:1, Galatians 2:20

YOU ARE TO BE FORGOTTEN AS CHRIST IS WORSHIPPED - Vss. 8-10

The further the Lord went, the more likely it is, that people forgot the colt.

So it should be with us as well. John the Baptist stated it well when he said, "He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)

EPHESIANS 1:13-14 – RICHES IN THE SPIRIT

 KNOWING AND GROWING #4

In Ephesians 1 we have already discussed the riches we have through God the Father and God the Son. In Ephesians 1:13-14 we see some riches that we have in God, the Holy Spirit, pertaining to salvation.

THE SECOND BIRTH - Vs. 13

·      There is a blessing from the Spirit alluded to here without being specifically mentioned.

·      The Ephesians heard the "Word of Truth."

·      The “Word of Truth” is the Gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

·      One must believe the Gospel in order to be saved. Romans 5:1, Ephesians 2:8-9

·      One cannot be saved without the convicting work of the Holy Spirit. John 16:8-11

·      One cannot be saved without being “born again” by the Spirit of God. John 3:5-8

SEALING - Vs. 13

·      Vs. 13 – We are sealed with "that Holy Spirit of promise."

·      Sealing can refer to various things in Scripture.

1.    Security – Ephesians 4:30

2.    Authenticity – Romans 8:16

3.    Ownership – Ephesians 1:13 – The Holy Spirit brands, or marks us.                    Romans 8:9

SECURITY DEPOSIT OR DOWN-PAYMENT - Vs. 14

·      The word guarantee or earnest meant "the down-payment to guarantee the final purchase of some commodity or piece of property".

·      Today we might put earnest money down on such things as a house or a car.

·      2 Corinthians 1:22 tells us that this down-payment was made in our hearts.

·      2 Corinthians 5:5 tells us that this down-payment is a gift.

·      The down-payment has been paid on our inheritance when our redemption is fully complete.  We are redeemed by the blood of Christ, bought off the market and set free.

·      Redemption will be complete when we see Jesus face to face in our new resurrection bodies.  1 John 2:2-3, 1 Corinthians 15:51-55

PHILIPPIANS 3:15-17 – TO BE MATURE

PHILIPPIANS – PARTNERSHIP IN THE GOSPEL #14

As Christians, we need to work towards being perfect or mature. Here are some ways to accomplish this:

What to think – Vs. 15

·      Renounce everything to have Christ. Vss.7-9, 1 John 3:2-3

·      Renounce everything to be like Christ. Vs. 10

·      Know you haven’t made it. Vss. 11-12

·      Press on! Vss. 13-14

What to do – Vs. 16

·      Keep in line by faith. Hebrews 11:6

·      Keep in line by Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16

·      Keep in line by taking God literally. Hebrews 3:18-19

·      Keep in line by prayer. Hebrews 3:14-16

Where to look – Vs. 17

·      Look to Jesus. Hebrews 12:1-4

·      Look to Biblical examples – Paul and others. Hebrews 11

·      Look to the Godly examples you know.
