Jack Peters.  These outlines are meant to help other pastors and Bible

Teachers in their own preparations, as well as students of the Word in their studies.

These outlines are only "seeds".  They are not sermons ready for you to

preach. Some of these outlines are new. Some have been shared in the past.          Feel free to improve on these outlines any way the Lord leads you.

These outlines are based on the King James Version of the Bible, but are usually a “fit” with other translations.

REVELATION 21:1-8 – ALL THINGS NEW!

Thinking About Heaven #1

God wants us to understand about Heaven. Ephesians 1:18

There are many misconceptions about Heaven, including that it’s boring, and there’s nothing to do but sit on a cloud, having wings like angels, and strumming on a harp!

Nothing could be farther from the truth. So, let’s talk about Heaven for the next three weeks based on Revelation 21 and 22 and Revelation 2-3.

We are not talking about the current Heaven where we go when we die for the resurrection from the dead.  We are talking about the Eternal State, the Heaven of all eternity.

After the rapture of the Saints, the great Tribulation, the Battle of Armageddon, and after the return of Christ to earth (Revelation 19), the millennial reign of Christ for a thousand years (Revelation 20:6-7), the final rebellion of Satan (Revelation 20:7-10), and the final judgement of the unsaved (Revelation 20:11-18), God is going to make all things new!

Revelation 21: 5 – God will make all things new!

NEW PLACES - Vss. 1-2

New heaven and new earth – Isaiah 65:17, 66:22, 2 Peter 3:10-13

No More Seas – Why? Because they won’t be necessary!

Ray Stedman -  "The earth is bathed in God's great antiseptic solution composed of about 96 percent water, 3.5 percent salt, and about .5 percent trace constituents---chlorine, magnesium, calcium, and the like.  The salty brine of the ocean purges, cleanses, and preserves our planet making it fit to live in.”

Vs. 2 – New Jerusalem – Our new home! Beautiful! More about this next week, Lord willing.

NEW PRESENCE - Vs. 3

The New Jerusalem will be home to God. We will feel and see, and know His presence. We will see Him. We will be totally righteous in a totally righteous environment!

NEW PEACE - Vs. 4

Tears will be wiped away. Death, sorrow, crying, and pain will be eliminated.

NEW PEOPLE - Vss. 6b-7

Vs. 6b – You can have all these things if you have your thirst quenched now. Isaiah 55:1, John 4:13-14

Vs. 7 - Those who are “overcomers” will inherit all things. 1 John 5:4-5

NEW PROHIBITION - Vs. 8

Those who sinned without coming to Christ will be prohibited from entering. These are those who never repented and turned to Christ by faith.

GENESIS 7 – THE ARK – A PICTURE OF SALVATION

SUMMONS TO THE ARK - Vss. 1-4

Jesus summons us to salvation. Matthew 11:28, John 3:16, Revelation 22:17

SAFETY IN THE ARK - Vss. 5-16

Noah and all that were with him were safe.

Those who are saved are safe in Christ. We are not condemned. John 3:17-18a

SUFFERING OUTSIDE THE ARK - Vss. 17-24

What was not in the ark was destroyed.

Those without Christ are condemned. John 3:18b, John 3:36

EPHESIANS 2:1-10 – BIOGRAPHY OF A CHRISTIAN

KNOWING AND GROWING #7

In Ephesians 2:1-10 we are given the biography of every Christian.  Although some details vary, these basic things are true of every believer.

PERVERSION OF SIN - Vss. 1-3

·      It has been said that you have to get people lost before you can get them saved. How and why is that true?

·      According to Vs. 1 we were all “dead in trespasses and sins”. What does it mean to be dead here?  Why is that such a serious matter?

·      To trespass is to deviate from the path.  What is a typical “trespass” that a person commits?

·      To sin is to miss the mark. How do deviating from the path and missing the mark cause Spiritual death?

·      Vs. 2 – We all walked according to “the course of this world”.  It is like being in a canoe on a stream.  If you don’t paddle, you will go the direction that the stream is going.  It is like exiting a full football stadium, you will generally go with the flow of the traffic.

·      The “prince of the power of the air” is Satan.  What was his primary sin against God?  Isaiah 14:12-14, Ezekiel 28:12-17

·      Every person who is unsaved is “a child of disobedience”, walking in the footsteps of Satan.

·      Vs. 3 - What is the “manner of life” or conversation of every unbeliever?

·      A dog does what he does because he is a dog. It is his nature. A cat does what he does because it is his nature.  A man does what he does because he is a man, it is his nature.

PROVISION OF LIFE - Vss. 4-5

·      What do the first two words of Vs. 4 say about our Christian Biography?

·      How does Vs. 4 make you stand in awe?

·      Vs. 5 - To quicken is to be made alive.  In what way are we quickened with Christ?

·      What amazing thing from God saves us?

·      What does it mean to be saved?

POSITION IN GLORY - Vss. 6-7

·      According to Vs. 6, can you be in two places at once?  How?

·      How should being seated in heavenly places affect my behavior? My prayer life?

·      Vs. 7 – I am seated in heavenly places now.  What will happen when I am literally in Christ’s presence?

PLACEMENT BY FAITH - Vss. 8-9

·      What do well-meaning people not understand about grace?

·      Why are works excluded from salvation?

·      What is a gift?  Why did God choose to make salvation a gift?

PROOF OF CONVERSION - Vs. 10

·      The person who is truly saved will experience a change in life that will produce good works.

·      As his workmanship, we are the masterpiece of a quality craftsman.  We get the word “poem” from the word for workmanship.  We are His poem.

·      What is the purpose of God’s Masterpiece?

·      What are some of the things that we might be doing if we are truly God’s Masterpiece?

·      What does it mean to walk in something?

A UNITED STAND IN THE LORD – Vss. 2-3

Romans 12:14-21

A JOYFUL STAND IN THE LORD – Vs. 4

·      Because of who He is – Hebrews 1:1-4

·      Because of what He has done – 1 Peter 2:22-25

·      Because of who we are – Galatians 4:4-7

A GRACIOUS STAND FOR THE LORD IS NEAR – Vs. 5
