SERMON SEEDS P3 FOR WEEK OF 1/16/17

SERMON SEEDS

P3 – THE WEEK OF JANUARY 16, 2017

Sermon Seeds is a mailing of brief sermon outlines from Pastor

Jack Peters.  These outlines are meant to help other pastors and Bible

Teachers in their own preparations, as well as students of the Word in their studies.

These outlines are only "seeds".  They are not sermons ready for you to

preach. Some of these outlines are new. Some have been shared in the past. This week, the outlines have all been shared previously for the Christmas Season.         Feel free to improve on these outlines any way the Lord leads you.

These outlines are based on the King James Version of the Bible, but are usually a “fit” with other translations.

·      Perhaps the Psalmist was spending a moment to “take it all in”.

·      Perhaps the Psalmist was meditating on the greatness of the city and God’s faithfulness to her.

MARK 11:15-19 – CLEAN-UP TIME!

One of the great problems in the world today is pollution.  Each year millions of dollars are spent cleaning up after mankind!  Jesus was concerned about a different kind of pollution found in our text.  Those who would make it a place of business and dishonesty were polluting the temple of God.

We must remember that today the body of the Christian is the temple of God. We must make sure that we keep it clean. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

DISINFECTING THE TEMPLE - Vs. 15

The area of the temple described here was the "Court of the Gentiles". This is where non-Jewish people could come and pray. Instead it became a marketplace for moneychangers and salesmen.

Jesus disinfected the Temple by casting out those who were polluting it!

DELETING THE TRAFFIC - Vs. 16

People would use this part of the temple as a street. This would distract anyone who was trying to pray, and showed disrespect for God. Jesus stopped the traffic!

DEFINING THE PROBLEM - Vs. 17

The house of prayer had become a den of thieves.  The people who sold in the temple were dishonest. Anything that would steal from our devotion to God needs to be removed from our lives.

DISTURBING THE LEADERS - Vs. 18

The leaders were disturbed because a source of money was being eliminated.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:14-21 – WHAT MOVES YOU?

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (KJV) - For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:  And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

What constrains, compels, controls, or moves you into action? It should be Christ’s love for you. In this passage, He shows His love in three ways.

HE CLAIMED US – Vs. 21

PHILIPPIANS – PARTNERSHIP IN THE GOSPEL #6
