Sermon Seeds is a mailing of brief sermon outlines from Pastor

Jack Peters.  These outlines are meant to help other pastors and Bible

Teachers in their own preparations, as well as students of the Word in their studies.

These outlines are only "seeds".  They are not sermons ready for you to

preach. Some of these outlines are new. Some have been shared in the past.          Feel free to improve on these outlines any way the Lord leads you.

These outlines are based on the King James Version of the Bible, but are usually a “fit” with other translations.

PSALM 126 – JOURNEY OF A THANKFUL HEART

·      What if I told you that you had to spend the rest of your life with a child who will either grumble or be grateful?

·      You are on a journey. God is going with you. Do you think that God would rather have you be a grumbler or be grateful?

·      I think of Psalm 126 as the life journey of someone I want to be. The Journey of a Thankful Heart.

RELEASE – Vss. 1-2a

·      The Psalmist was looking back at a release from captivity, and remembering the joy.

·      If you are a Christian you can look back at the joy that your release gave you -                                  1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Ephesians 2:1-7

RECOGNITION – Vss. 2b-3

·      Christ has changed the life of the believer.  2 Corinthians 5:17

·      This change should be recognized by others.

·      We should acknowledge with gratitude the change that Christ has made in us.

REQUEST – Vs. 4

·      Different struggles come up. Our prayer should be “Please do it again, Lord.”  He will!

RESPONSIBILITY – Vss. 5-6 - Sow

·      Sowing of the Word is done in our own hearts, and we must make sure our hearts are the right kind of soil. – Luke 8:11-15

·      We are to sow the Word in the hearts of fellow believers. – Hebrews 3:12-13 & 10:24-25, Colossians 3:16

·      We are to sow the Word in the hearts of unbelievers. – Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 3:15

REJOICING – Vss. 5-6

·      If we sow in tears, we will reap in joy.

JEREMIAH 6:16 – A CALL FOR REVIVAL

Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV) - Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Jeremiah was preaching to the Nation of Judah.  They were lost! They were obsessed with sin!  Jeremiah calls for revival, a turning from sin back to God.

STAND – Stand ye in the ways

We need to stop and admit that we are lost!

Revelation 2:4 - Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

SEE – and see

Revelation 2:5 - Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen…

SEARCH - and ask for the old paths, where is the good way?

Deuteronomy 4:29 - But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

STEP - And walk therein.

James 1:22  - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

SATISFACTION - And ye shall find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28-30 - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

STUBBORNNESS - But they said, We will not walk therein.

Jeremiah 6:17 - Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Revelation 2:4-5 - Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
