SERMON SEEDS ARCHIVES

PSALMS

Through no fault of our own, about 5 years of Sermon Seeds was deleted from the Website of the First Baptist Church.

We decided that it was time to begin archiving them in a different way.

Please be patient as we gradually archive these outlines.

PSALM 1 - CONTRAST

In Psalm 1 the life of the righteous person is contrasted with the life of the wicked. The only way we will live a righteous life is when we have been saved by grace! Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 5:17

THE WALK OF THE RIGHTEOUS – Vss. 1-2

Psalm 1:1-2 (KJV) - Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

THE WONDER OF GOD’S BLESSING – Vs. 3

Psalm 1:3 (KJV) - And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

THE WASTEFULNESS OF THE WICKED – Vss. 4-5

Psalm 1:4-5 (KJV) - The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

THE WAYS TO THE END – Vs. 6

Psalm 1:6 (KJV) - For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

PSALM 93 – OUR GOD REIGNS

THE LORD’S REIGN IS:

MAJESTIC – [1] The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty;

STRONG – … the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself:

[3] The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. [4] The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

STEADFAST - [1] …the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

ETERNAL - [2] Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

RELIABLE - [5] Thy testimonies are very sure:

PSALM 98 – IT’S HIS!

Our Lord owns everything. Here are some things that are His!

HIS VICTORY – Vs. 1

O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

HIS SALVATION – Vss. 2a, 3b

The LORD hath made known his salvation:

…all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS – Vs. 2b

HIS PRAISE – Vss. 4-8

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

HIS COMING – Vs. 9

Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

PSALM 130 – AN EXAMPLE OF GODLY LIVING

The Psalmist shows by example how to live a Godly life.

CALL TO GOD – Vss. 1-2

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.  Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

CONFESSION OF SIN – Vss. 3-4

If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?  But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

CONDUCT OF WAITING – Vss. 5-6

I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

CHALLENGE TO OTHERS – Vss. 7-8

Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.  And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
