LUKE 2:1-20

GOD'S TOOLS
Description

Luke 2:1-20 - GOD'S TOOLS

Whatever the job, there seems to be tools involved.

  • A carpenter has tools.
  • An electrician has tools.
  • A seamstress has tools.
  • A web site designer has tools.
  • A doctor, dentist, or optician has tools.
  • A good preacher has his study books.
  • A home maker has her or his cleaning tools and cooking tools.
  • A baseball player has his bat and glove.

Has it ever occurred to you, that God’s tools are unlimited for doing what He wants to do, but he often uses people?

This morning as we read the Christmas Story, let’s consider the people and angels God used to bring about the Christmas Story.

GOD USED AN UNWITTING SOVEREIGN - Vss. 1-3

Caesar Augustus decided to register everyone for another round of taxes. Joseph went to Bethlehem, and Jesus was born in the right town, so that prophecy would be fulfilled. Micah 5:2, Proverbs 21:1, Cyrus – Isaiah 44:28-45:1

GOD USED HIS COOPERATIVE SAINTS - Vss. 4-5

Mary and Joseph were used of God to raise and protect His Son. Many a person has impacted the world for Christ because of Godly parents who raised them to love Jesus and obey Him!  Luke 1:30-38, Matthew 1:18-25, Esther 4:13-15

GOD USED HIS OBEDIENT SON - Vs. 7

Jesus came to be the Savior of the world. Philippians 2:5-11, Galatians 4:4-5

GOD USED HIS SUPERNATURAL SERVANTS - Vss. 8-14

They were used to announce the birth of God's Son and to shout God's praise. Psalm 100, God wants joyful people.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

GOD USED HUMBLE SHEPHERDS - Vss. 15-20

The shepherds went to visit the newborn child and to share with others what they had heard and seen. They experienced it first for themselves. That’s what witnessing and instruction are all about! Experience for yourself and then share.

Vs. 20 - Shepherds were thankful that they had that they had heard and seen. Psalm 107:2, 2 Corinthians 5:18-22

What about you? Are you useable?
