I walked into his office at the recommendation of a friend. He listened to my tale of woe. Another professor at Glassboro State College (Rowan University) was not happy with me because she caught me looking out of a window. That was wrong. But after that I could not do anything right in her eyes. He was sympathetic and suggested that I talk to the department chair. Which I did. This was a two-semester course in my major, elementary education. With the department chair’s help I changed professors and got the one I went to see. My first teacher gave me a “D” for the course. I didn’t deserve that. The next semester I got an “A” from the other teacher. I didn’t deserve that either! Mr. Stern was on my side, I believe, trying to equal out a wrong against me. I apologized to the first teacher.

I love Psalm 118:6. It reminds me that the Lord is proactive towards us through the work of the Trinity or Triune God.

The word Trinity is not used in Scripture but the truth is taught. There is one God with three members of the Godhead. Each has all the attributes of God and each is said to be God.

No explanation of the Trinity is perfect, but I think of a family. Dottie and I and our son, Dave are all Peters, but each of us has a different personality and duties. The Triune God is on our side! Let’s see how!

Psalm 118:6 – The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me.

GOD IS FOR US – THE SON

  • Leaving Heaven
  • Coming to Earth
  • Associating with us in John’s Baptism. Matthew 3:13-17, God the Holy Spirit and God the Son being present.
  • Teaching – Matthew 5-7, Matthew 24-25, John 14-16
  • Dying for us, rising again, and ascending into Heaven – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:6-9
  • Listening and Interceding – Hebrews 10:16-22

GOD IS IN US – THE HOLY SPIRIT

  • Convicting – John 16:8-11
  • Regenerating – John 3:3-8, 16
  • Indwelling – Romans 8:15-17
  • Teaching – John 16:12-14
  • Strengthening – Galatians 5:16, 22-23, Acts 1:8
  • Interceding – Romans 8:26-27

GOD IS OVER US – THE FATHER

  • Authority – 1 Corinthians 8:6, Isaiah 46:9-10
  • Availability – Matthew 6:9, Philippians 4:6-7
  • Affection – Jeremiah 31:3
