Welcome

Since 1975 the First Baptist Church of New Holland has been sharing the "Good News" of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the citizens of Eastern Lancaster County. We are a bunch of friendly people who care about you! Although there are many forms of worship available in our area in many fine churches, we are distinct in our emphasis on singing hymns from traditional hymnals with piano accompaniment. Our preaching, teaching, and church practices are based on the Word of God as our authority. We invite you to join us any Sunday for Morning or Evening Services and/or Sunday School.

MARK 5:1-20 – JESUS SHOWED UP!

    IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS! #19

I see this story of the demon-possessed man as a picture of salvation. When we were desperate, Jesus showed up!

THE PROBLEM OF SIN - Vss. 1-7

    1. Sin is associated with death. - Vs. 3, Ephesians 2:1-3, Romans 6:23
    2. Sin cannot be controlled. - Vss. 4-5 - Man cannot control his sin or atone for it! (Romans 3:1-23)
    3. Sin separates between man and God. - Vss. 6-7 - Just as this demon had nothing to do with God, our sin has separated us from our holy God. Isaiah 59:2

THE POWER OF THE SAVIOR - Vss. 8- 15

    1. Jesus used His power to cast out the demon. - Vss. 8-13 - Jesus also used His power to pay for our sins.                 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 5:6-9
    2. The man was changed because of Jesus' power. - Vss. 13-15 - We are changed when we place our faith in Christ and become born again. 2 Corinthians 5:21

    · Sitting, Ephesians 2:6, Philippians 3:20

    · Clothed, Philippians 3:8-9

    • Right Mind, 1 Corinthians 2:16, Philippians 2:5

THE PROCLAMATION OF SALVATION – Vss. 16-20

    • This man was sent home to tell his friends what God had done for him.
    • We are sent to a dying world to tell all what Christ has done for us.  Psalm 107:2, Mark 16:15,

    1 Peter 3:15
