MARK 2:1-12 – JESUS CARES! DO I?
“Frank E. Graeff was a minister in the Methodist denomination and served some of its leading churches, in the Philadelphia Conference. Throughout the district, he was known as the sunshine minister.
“In spite of his outwardly-cheery disposition and winsome personality, Graeff was often called upon to go through severe testing experiences in his life.
“It was while passing through such a test and experiencing severe despondency, doubt and physical agony, that Mr. Graeff wrote this hymn, Does Jesus Care?
“Rev. Graeff turned to the Scriptures for solace and strength. First Peter 5:7 became especially meaningful to him during this particular struggle: Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.
“The phrase, He careth for you, spoke deeply to his need.”
Story Behind "Does Jesus Care" Hymn - Believers Portal
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?
Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?
Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?
Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
Refrain:
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Does Jesus Care by Frank E. Graeff
As we will see in the passage before us, the Lord Jesus Christ does care! As Christ-followers, our goal should be to like the Lord Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:1-2 - Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
1 John 3:2-3 - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
So, if I am trying to be like Jesus, I need to care like he did. As we look at the ways Jesus cared in this passage, we need to say, “Jesus Cares! Do I?”

CALLED TO PREACH! – EZEKIEL 2:1-3:4
PRACTICAL PRECEPTS FROM THE PROPHETS #4
· What makes their calling worthwhile, challenging, and sometimes frustrating?
The prophet Ezekiel was among the exiles that were taken out of the land of Judah during the Babylonian Captivity. He was a priest called to be a Prophet. He was called to preach!
RECRUITMENT OF EZEKIEL - 2:1-3
REBELLION OF ISRAEL - 2:3-4
All preachers like to see positive results from their preaching. However, the preacher does not always see positive results. Often, people will rebel against the message. Even though the preacher may not see the positive results, he can be assured of a positive outcome. Isaiah 55:10-11
REASSURANCE FROM GOD - 2:5
No matter what the response to the preaching of God's Word, the preacher who is doing God's will can be assured that those hearing will know that he is a messenger from God.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PREACHER - 2:6-8
1. Be Fearless - Vs. 6
2. Be Faithful - Vss. 7-8
RECEPTION OF GOD'S WORD - 2:9-3:4
God's word must be received and digested before it can be shared with others! Ezra 7:10

JOHN 4:4-30 – SOUL-WINNER
We know, that as Christians, it is our responsibility to witness or to be "soul-winners." See Psalm 107:2, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 3:15.
The greatest soul winner of all was our Lord Jesus Christ. Not only did He win every soul that is saved through his death on the cross, but He was also effective in personal evangelism. In this text we see the master soul winner at work. As Jesus dealt with the woman at the well, please note:
HE CAUGHT HER ATTENTION Vss. 4-9
While the disciples went for food, Jesus rested by a well.
The woman came for water at unusual time because she was probably an outcast because of her immoral behavior.
Jesus asked her for a drink of water. This was unusual because he was a Jew and she a Samaritans. "For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans."
HE CREATED AN INTEREST Vss. 10-15
Although she didn't understand what Jesus was talking about, his offer of living water certainly got her attention.
HE CHALLENGED HER HEART Vss. 16-26
Concerning her past. Vss.16-19
Concerning worship. Vss. 20-24
Concerning His identity. Vss. 25-26
HE CAUSED RESULTS Vss. 27-30
Obviously, the woman believed.
She went to the village and called the man to come meet the one she was sure was the Messiah.
May we remember that it is our duty to witness, but it is always the Spirit of God who works when people believe. (John 16:8-11)

CLEAR THINKING IN A CLOUDY WORLD #3
The Church in Thessalonica was a good church that was suffering from persecution and false teaching. They needed clear thinking about their condition (Chapter 1). They needed clear thinking about the conclusion, or the Day of the Lord (chapter 2). They needed clear thinking about their conduct (Chapter 3). Some things needed to be addressed in a loving, but firm way.

GOD’S RULE IN MY LIFE (A TOPICAL STUDY)
Thy kingdom come… Matthew 6:10
Let’s face it, the only time things are ever right anywhere is when God is ruling. Although I can have some influence on all the things discussed above, the one area I have the most control over is my own life. As I pray for and allow God’s kingdom (rule) to come to my own life, my life will be different, pleasing to God, and an effective influence.
Romans 11:33-36 - O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! [34] For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? [35] Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? [36] For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Psalm 139:7-10 - Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? [8] If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. [9] If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; [10] Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
Hebrews 13:5-6 - Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. [6] So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Romans 12:1-2 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Romans 6:11-13 - Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. [12] Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. [13] Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Luke 9:23 - And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Romans 8:16-17 - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: [17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Proverbs 3:11-12 - My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
John 15:4-5, 7 - Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Romans 8:14 - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Galatians 5:16 - This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:22-26 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [26] Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Ephesians 3:16-17a - That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;
Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Psalm 119:11 - Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:97-100 - O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. [98] Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. [99] I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. [100] I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
Psalm 119:112 - I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
